2023 Geelong Ballroom Dance Club – Dance Weekend.

What a wonderful weekend of dancing and good times.  As usual, Geelong Ballroom turned it on for three days for dancers of all abilities.  Let’s get straight to the suppers and lunch.  Honestly, you would have to be hard pressed to find a better, old-fashioned spread anywhere. Thanks to Dawn’s team of dedicated helpers, we feasted on delicious sandwiches, pastries, cakes and slices, a variety of soups and tempting desserts. Boy oh boy…… it was heard that some dancers travelled the distance south just to graze on the food. Thanks caterers, you did us very proud.

Now for the workshop led by the mercurial duo of John and Andrea Barwick. You sure get quality instruction from these two with all the laughs and social interaction in between. That Johanna Foxtrot was as smooth as my grandchild’s bum and the Ja Mambo was, well, magic.  Thanks John and Andrea.  We’re looking forward to their return next year.

The three days of dancing was also pretty damn good too, thanks to live music from Ossie and Anna on Friday, Paul and Christian on Saturday and the best CD dancing tunes from Annmarie on Sunday. You get nothing but the best when you arrive at The Ballroom.  Newcomers were most welcomed as they marvelled at the shear size of our purpose-built ballroom.  Aren’t we lucky!  Come on, come take a look one Saturday.

Seriously, thanks to everyone who journeyed to Geelong.  We had a great turnout from locals and those from afar. New friendships were forged, and old ones strengthened.  We’ve already started planning for next year’s special 40th Anniversary Dance Weekend.

Live to dance, dance to live,

Peter
