The Geelong Ballroom Dance Club hosted its annual “Weekend of Dance” on the 7th 8th and 9th of October 2022 at its Carey Street Hamlyn Heights ballroom.  Attendances were excellent for all days, considering the Covid restrictions had put a virtual halt to dancing in Geelong for the past two years. Now that restrictions have been lifted, dancers could joyfully hit the floor again with waltzes, foxtrots, and rumbas. President of the Club, Alan Anstis, was delighted with the patronage of the Saturday black tie event with more than 120 people coming from as far away as Canberra, Corowa and Rutherglen to attend this special gala event.  The traditional supper, which The Ballroom is renowned for, consisted of scones, sponges, pies, and slices which was thoroughly appreciated by the crowd. Paul and Christian were the highlight band of the weekend. The boys played a multitude of great dance songs that delighted the dancers from the first quickstep to the last waltz. An extra bonus was the well attended workshop hosted by John and Andrea Barwick who taught a new tango and a new paso. The Ballroom wishes to thank all those who came and enjoyed a great weekend of inspirational ballroom dancing and look forward to the event being held again in 2023, thanks to the support from the City of Greater Geelong, Positive Ageing Program.
